What's My Core Values

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

What's My Core Values is a free core values test published by Leading Between The Lines. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect when you use the test, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the test actually needs — nothing is sold, and there are no third-party advertising trackers on this site.

What we collect

  • Your first name and email address, which you enter to see your results. Your results are shown on screen; we do not email a copy of them.
  • Your test answers — the statements you picked as most and least like you in each set — along with timing and presentation details. We use these to calculate your ranking and to improve how the test is scored over time.
  • Basic technical data — the page that referred you, your browser's user-agent string, and any campaign tags (UTM parameters) in the link you arrived through.
  • A one-way hash of your IP address, not your actual IP. We combine your IP with a secret value and store only the scrambled result, which lets us spot automated abuse without ever keeping your real address.

Why we collect it

We use your answers to produce your top five values on the spot. We keep answers, timing, and accuracy ratings in aggregate to refine the instrument — for example, to set the thresholds that decide when the test names a single leading value versus a cluster. Technical data helps us understand where visitors come from and keep the service running and free of abuse.

The newsletter

Entering your email to view your results also subscribes you to Leading Between The Lines, our newsletter on leadership, values, and team dynamics, delivered through Beehiiv. This is automatic rather than a separate checkbox, and every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, retaking the test will not re-subscribe you.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting Vercel Analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies to follow you across other websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We rely on a small set of service providers to operate the site — a database host, our email newsletter platform (Beehiiv), and our hosting and analytics provider (Vercel) — and share only what each needs to do its job.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter any time using the link in any issue.
  • Ask us to delete your assessment record and email by writing to chad@chadtodd.com. We will remove it promptly.

Children

This test is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Questions about your data can go to chad@chadtodd.com.
